Evangelism and Disciple-Making: The Only Way for Apostolic Churches to Have Longevity
In a world of shifting trends and church growth strategies, one truth remains unchanged: evangelism and disciple-making is the only way for Apostolic churches to thrive and endure. Without it, churches lose their purpose, spiritual vitality, and long-term impact.
Jesus didn’t leave multiple strategies for church growth—He gave one:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV)
The early Church followed this model, and it remains the only way for Apostolic churches to sustain revival and fruitfulness.
1. Evangelism and Disciple-Making Is the Only Way to Fulfill the Great Commission
Jesus’ final command was clear: evangelize, baptize, and disciple. The Great Commission is not just a suggestion—it is the lifeline of the Church.
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15, NKJV)
“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” (Acts 2:41, NKJV)
A church that stops evangelizing stops being Apostolic. If we neglect evangelism and disciple-making, we are no longer fulfilling the mission Christ gave us.
2. The Apostolic Church Is a Movement, Not an Institution
The early Church didn’t rely on programs, traditions, or maintaining a congregation—they were a multiplication movement.
“And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” (Acts 5:42, NKJV)
The only way for an Apostolic church to remain strong is to keep growing through evangelism and disciple-making. If we turn inward and become focused only on maintaining what we have, we will lose the fire of revival.
3. Without Evangelism, Churches Become Clubs, Not Movements
A church that stops evangelizing will eventually:
✅ Turn inward and focus on keeping members instead of reaching the lost.
✅ Lose its spiritual fire and become more about tradition than transformation.
✅ Shrink and die because no new people are being reached.
The only way for a church to stay spiritually alive is to remain focused on the harvest.
“The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Luke 10:2, NKJV)
If we don’t reach them, who will?
4. Growth by Conversion Is the Only Way to Sustain Church Growth
Some churches rely on:
❌ Biological growth (children growing up in church)—too slow.
❌ Transfer growth (members moving from other churches)—unstable.
✅ Conversion growth (new souls coming to Christ)—the only sustainable way.
If churches don’t consistently win souls, they stagnate. The only way to keep the Church growing is to bring new people into the Kingdom.
5. Evangelism and Discipleship Solve the Manpower Issue
Many churches struggle with manpower shortages. They lack musicians, leaders, teachers, and workers to sustain ministry. The solution is not just recruitment—it is conversion and discipleship.
When new souls are reached, discipled, and trained:
✅ More workers become available for ministry.
✅ The burden is spread across a larger, Spirit-filled workforce.
✅ People discover their calling and serve with passion.
Jesus said:
“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’” (Matthew 9:37-38, NKJV)
The only way to solve the manpower issue is to raise new disciples who will carry the work forward.
6. Evangelism and Discipleship Solve the Lack of Singles and Communities
One challenge many churches face is a lack of young singles or thriving communities. The solution is not internal matchmaking or events alone—it is reaching new people.
✅ Evangelism brings new souls into the church, increasing the number of singles and families.
✅ Discipleship fosters strong community bonds and godly relationships.
✅ As new people join the faith, organic community growth occurs.
Instead of lamenting the lack of singles or communities, we must reach new people and disciple them into the body of Christ. The only way to grow a thriving church community is to win and disciple new people.
“And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47, NKJV)
7. Making Disciples Is the Only Way to Prevent Apostasy and False Doctrine
When churches neglect disciple-making, they open the door to:
⚠️ Compromise – Adjusting doctrine to fit culture instead of transforming it.
⚠️ False teachings – Entertaining unbiblical ideologies.
⚠️ Spiritual decline – Producing shallow Christians with no strong foundation.
The only way to prevent this is through consistent teaching and discipleship.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-12, NKJV)
If we are not discipling believers, we are leaving them vulnerable to deception.
8. Evangelism and Disciple-Making Is the Only Way to Keep the Church Spiritually Alive
Every great revival in history was fueled by soul-winning. When churches shift from maintenance to mission, the fire of God stays alive.
A church that stops evangelizing will:
???? Lose its spiritual hunger.
???? Lose its reliance on the power of God.
???? Lose the fresh testimonies that bring life to the body.
If we want continued outpourings of the Holy Spirit, we must stay focused on the harvest.
There Is No Other Way
Evangelism and making disciples is the only way for Apostolic churches to survive and thrive. Jesus commanded it, the early Church modeled it, and history proves that churches that neglect it decline.
If an Apostolic church wants longevity, it must:
✅ Prioritize reaching the lost.
✅ Continually disciple believers into maturity.
✅ Train and reproduce leaders for the next generation.
✅ Solve manpower shortages through discipleship.
✅ Grow strong communities through evangelism.
Anything else is temporary. Jesus didn’t build a church to maintain—He built a church to conquer (Matthew 16:18).
There is no other way. We must evangelize, baptize, and disciple—or we will decline.
